課程概述 |
為了徹底了解實用主義的關注、論點和方法,這學期的前2/3會專注于美國實用主義的古典文件。學期的後1/3,我們將研究胡適所提的實用主義、他對教育改革的論點、以及他對中國傳統哲學的重新評估和他持續的影響力。我們的專注點將著重在於作者實際的主張和論點,不過我們也會關注到他們落實的結果。 |
課程目標 |
本課程的目標為透過美國實用主義早期主要哲學家的文件和目前哲學家寫的文章介紹美國實用主義給學生。因爲實用主義一直牽涉到學術之外的事情,我們將關注它對其他學科和大社會的影響。希望到了學期終了時,學生將能夠識別和描述「實用主義之立意」也具有著對哲學及其他學科應用實用主義立意的工具和知識。 |
課程要求 |
The requirements for this course consist of two 2 – 3,000 word term papers, each accounting for 40% of your overall grade. Further, you are required to participate in class, which will be measured by a short writing that you bring to class every day: bring a "difficult but answerable" question, relevant to the day's reading, along with a provisional answer. Graded pass/fail, 20 daily assignments graded "pass" constitute full credit, each worth 1% of your overall grade. |
